The Best Sedan in America - 2010 Ford Tarurs

Posted: August 27, 2009  |  by: Blog Editor  |  source: AOL Autos

The 2010 Taurus is the new standard for full-size sedans, just as the 1986 Taurus set the standard for mid-size cars in its era. The 2010 edition is smaller than the traditional rear-wheel-drive Crown Victoria, and about the same size as the 2009 Taurus,

Compared to other full-size sedans and the larger mid-size four-doors, the 2010 Ford Taurus is happy to lock horns with any challenger. Its styling is more distinctive than the Toyota Avalon or the Chevrolet Impala. The classy Chrysler 300 still looks good after all these years, but its profile is no longer fresh. The Taurus's standard V-6 matches the competition in power and economy, while the SHO's EcoBoost V-6 engine squares off positively against the V-8 equipped Impala and 300 models. For those who want the added traction and all-weather safety of AWD, it is not offered by Toyota or Chevrolet in their mainstream sedans. Optional technology clearly separates the new Taurus from its in-class competitors.

The Ford brand improved in its 2009 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, the industry's top study measuring customer satisfaction in design, content, and vehicle performance.

To add structure to its DNA strategy and increase customer satisfaction, Ford put its quality criteria into three categories: Basic quality - the fundamental reliability of a vehicle. Performance quality - includes attributes such as fuel economy and quietness that usually fall into the "more is better" category. Excitement quality - those unexpected convenience features that surprise and delight the customers. "When applying the three categories, it's never about either/or; it's all three," said Kuzak. "We're still consumed with basic quality, but we're now also very focused on providing appeal and excitement."

Alan Mulally - Finding Solutions and enjoying it

Fixing up Ford. If business were politics, Detroit would be the Middle East. So how is an outsider like Alan Mulally finding solutions? And why does he seem to be enjoying himself?

Ford's financial independence is largely due to a new operational discipline that Mulally has installed, as well as some timely strategic moves he initiated. So while GM suffered the ignominy of seeing the Treasury Department's auto task force depose chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner, and Chrysler has declared bankruptcy, Ford stands alone as an independent company and, potentially, a Detroit survivor. "Alan was the right choice [to be CEO], and it gets more right every day," says executive chairman Bill Ford, the man who hired him.
